YELLOW DOG NEEDS FREE SPACE

In German it simply means: "Yellow Dog Program" and it means:

My dog needs more space (distance) from other dogs or people for various reasons and wears a yellow ribbon on his leash or a yellow bandana as a signal. There are almost countless reasons why a dog might be a "yellow dog".

Please give dogs you see with a yellow ribbon on their leash or a yellow bandana a little more time to get out of the way, or be sure to ask beforehand whether contact between the dogs or petting is desired.

Please respect the yellow signal in any case, because for the dog in question, a violation of its personal (comfort) distance means extreme stress.

The yellow ribbon or yellow bandana is by no means a stigma or a derogatory label intended to lump all dogs together. The yellow signal simply serves to make life and training easier and less stressful for dogs with a wide variety of problems, and for their owners.
