WHY A PREPARATORY COURSE?


THE PERFECT PREPARATION FOR THE MANDATORY PRACTICAL COURSE


Do you have a dog older than 20 weeks? Perhaps you've already completed a puppy training course with him. Or perhaps not. In any case, you'd like to make good use of the time before the mandatory practical course begins?


Then the HUNDHOCH2 preparation course is perfect for you!


  • This is an ongoing course . You can join at any time, provided there is a place available.

  • We are working on the learning objectives of the mandatory practical course .

  • And prepare both dog and human for its successful completion .

  • We work with positive reinforcement to encourage desired behavior.

  • If your dog is already entering puberty , you will receive active support during this often quite challenging phase!


TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL COURSE ATTENDANCE

  • Helpful and useful is Thoroughly read and work through the brochure "Dog Training Theory" from the Zurich Veterinary Office before starting the course. Perhaps you have already worked through it for the theory course – all the better!

NUMBER OF LESSONS

  • GROUP and PRIVATE: Course with 6 consecutive training sessions of 60 minutes each.

  • The content is repeated after every 6 lessons.


COURSE DATES

  • GROUP: Entry into the course is possible at any time, provided there are free places. No classes are held on public holidays; otherwise, classes run continuously except for a few school holidays at the Meilen public school and HUNDHOCH2 holiday periods.

  • PRIVATE: Individually scheduled . The private course begins according to your individual preferred date. Further dates will be determined during the first lesson.


NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS

  • GROUP : Max. 4-5 human-dog teams. The course will take place with a minimum of 3 participants.

  • PRIVATE : 1 human-dog team / 1 family with dog.


COURSE REMUNERATION

  • GROUP: CHF 240

  • PRIVATE: CHF 540 (10% discount for 6 private lessons of 60 minutes each)


COURSE MATERIALS

  • Those who wish can purchase the course materials for the puppy or mandatory practical course . These materials are helpful for practicing at home , as they contain the vast majority of the exercises explained in the course in written form.

  • Puppy course / STARTER package (in German. Training card sets with all exercises of the puppy course, knowledge folder with informative handouts and further information material), CHF 69

  • Mandatory practical course / BASIC package (in German. Training card sets with all exercises of the mandatory practical course, knowledge folder with informative handouts and further information material), CHF 59.

  • The course materials are printed in small print runs in Switzerland.


COURSE CONCEPT

  • The 6 lessons prepare participants for the learning objectives of the mandatory practical dog training (Basic Practical Course) as specified by the Veterinary Office of the Canton of Zurich.

  • Furthermore, it imparts a great deal of knowledge about dogs.


COURSE CONFIRMATION

  • You will receive written confirmation of your voluntary completion of the preparatory course.  


MANDATORY PRACTICAL COURSE CANTON OF ZURICH

  • Information on mandatory courses in the canton of Zurich can be found on the HUNDHOCH2 page "MANDATORY COURSES" .

  • To do this, in the selection menu on the "OFFER" menu page, click on the "MANDATORY COURSES" submenu.

CONTENT

In the preparatory course you will learn:

  • Marker and praise words, used with pinpoint accuracy

  • Spontaneous eye contact

  • Seat and place with release signal

  • Break signal

  • Final signal

  • Laying on and off routine

  • Recall with dish handle

  • Walking on foot and on a leash

  • Wait

  • Give something away / From

  • Abort signal / No

GOOD TO KNOW

INTRODUCTORY LESSON

  • A trial lesson before definitively registering for a course is of course always possible. However, please do not bring your dog.

  • HUNDHOCH2 requests brief prior written notification via contact form should a trial lesson be desired (see menu bar, via "Contact Form").

  • Once confirmed by HUNDHOCH2, nothing stands in the way of the sniffing session.


PLEASE NOTE

  • Please do not feed the dog for approximately 2 hours before training sessions.

  • All dogs participating in lessons must be microchipped and registered with AMICUS and their local municipality.

  • All dogs participating in training must be adequately vaccinated, dewormed and healthy (no diarrhea, vomiting, coughing or similar symptoms).

  • Accompanying persons are of course permitted. Children must be supervised accordingly.

The following equipment must be brought to every training session:

  • Durable clothing and weather-appropriate footwear.

  • Several poop bags .

  • Young dogs must wear a harness only!

  • Adult dogs with a collar or harness.

  • Lead rope , approximately 2 meters long.

  • No retractable leashes (risk of injury to humans and dogs).

  • A treat pouch for reward snacks, preferably with a waist belt or for attaching to a belt.

  • "Jackpot" reward (lickable paste. Or small, soft and very high-quality treats, e.g., finely chopped sausages or small pieces of cheese).

  • Normal, rather soft treats , about three handfuls.

  • In wet/cold weather , a rain or thermal coat may be necessary for young or sensitive dogs.

HOW TO GET THERE

TRAINING LOCATION

  • Training grounds HUNDHOCH, Feldeilen


ARRIVAL

  • Please allow sufficient time for your journey so that dog and owner arrive relaxed and on time at the training location, and so that the dog has time to relieve itself before the training.

  • The training sessions take place in all weather conditions.

  • Should HUNDHOCH2 exceptionally have to cancel training sessions due to weather conditions (hail, storm, etc.), customers will be informed in good time beforehand.

RULES | CODE OF CONDUCT

HUNDHOCH2 requests all customers to adhere to the HUNDHOCH2 training code of conduct and training rules. hold.


So that all training sessions can run optimally and without disruption, and so that both people and dogs benefit from the training to the fullest extent.


Here are the most important rules. Further rules can be found in the terms and conditions.

  • Participants should arrive at the training location approximately 5 minutes before the training begins.

  • Participating dogs should not be fed approximately 2 hours before training.

  • The dogs arrive at training clean.

  • Strict rules regarding the removal of dog feces apply on and around the training grounds, as is the case everywhere else in the canton of Zurich.

  • The dogs are on leashes when they come for training.

  • Long lines are only used with a chest harness .

  • Please do not use retractable lanyards during training – risk of injury.

  • Out of consideration for other training participants and their dogs, the following applies:
    * Sufficient distance is always maintained between the dog and other human-dog teams (at least 2 leash lengths).
    * Dogs may only be let off the leash after prior arrangement with HUNDHOCH2.
    * There is no contact between the dogs without prior agreement when they are on a leash.
    * Strange dogs will neither be petted nor fed without prior agreement.

  • Digging holes is prohibited throughout the entire area.

  • During training sessions, customers' mobile phones must remain silent in their pockets. Photos and videos are permitted after consultation with the instructor and other participants.

  • Smoking is strictly prohibited during training sessions.

  • Insurance is the responsibility of the participants.
